This Land: Interfacing with vacancy in St. Louis

Design and Development – 2012

St. Louis has the second highest rate of vacancy in the United States after New Orleans. The Land Reutilization Authority owns over 11,000 parcels, but learning about and purchasing these parcels is a difficult process due in part to a lacking online interface. I created this interactive map of LRA-owned properties to illustrate the concentration of vacancy while zoomed out and to give residents a user-friendly portal for learning about and purchasing vacant land in their neighborhood once zoomed in. Users can zoom in on parcels, hover over them for information on zoning and value, and click on them for a link to the LRA website for that property.
